When Marília Pieroni and Matheus Gomes Martins said their vows on their wedding day, they got more than they bargained for when an unexpected guest turned up and wanted to become a part of their love.

It was September 30th in Laranjal Paulista, Brazil, when a huge amount of rain forced the couple to move their wedding into a tent.

While the guests all were thankful to stay dry, a stray dog wasn’t very happy in the rain and decided to invite himself into the tent.

The dog walked into the tent and upon being noticed with his wet fur and muddy paws, he was escorted out. But the dog was not giving up and walked straight back in to the nuptials.

Marília recalled: “As the ceremony started, to everyone’s surprise, it was the dog who came in when the bridal chorus began to play,” but instead of panicking, she had other emotions.

“I was really surprised and thought the little guy was really cute,” the bride said.

Not only did he decide to walk up the aisle, he also chose to take a nap while the couple were exchanging vows, right on top of Marília’s veil. The couple took the moment in their stride and allowed the dog to stay for the reception, going so far to give him a plate of food!

However, after the dog had a full stomach and a warm shelter, he decided to walk off and left their wedding.

But the couple couldn’t stop thinking about their adorable yet unexpected guest. They made some phone calls following their wedding and decided to adopt the pooch.

Once they tracked him down, they named him Snoop and made him an official member of their family. Marília said that he “is adapting very well to his new routine, he is very playful, needy and caring. We are so happy with him.”

Marília and Matheus wanted to share their story to encourage others to adopt animals. She finally added “Here in Brazil, we have so many abandoned animals living in the street, we want to make an appeal to people to not buy animals and to adopt them instead.”
