These Celebs Have Brains, Degrees, And HEART, Not Just Fame
Celebrities become famous for their talent, whether it be acting, singing, dancing or even modeling. That is what they are known and attract a fan base for, but many celebrities also accomplish things outside of Hollywood and lead much different lives than what you would assume from watching them on the red carpet or the big screen. Some work with organizations and charities to help the poor or sick, some act as goodwill ambassadors, while others go to high end universities and earn prestigious degrees that they can fall back on when their A-List life is no longer satisfying. Being rich and famous doesn’t prevent a person from being involved in other aspects of life or from having other interests, but it can help to provide them with the money to explore other endeavors. With that being said, here are 10 celebrities who have accomplished things outside of Hollywood.
Natalie Portman may be a successful actress, producer and director now and has definitely made a name for herself in Hollywood, but she also made a name for herself at Harvard University, an Ivy League school where only the most intelligent are lucky enough to attend. Natalie graduated from Harvard in 2003 with a degree in psychology. During her days at college, she stated that she didn’t care if getting an education would ruin her acting career. She said, “I would rather be smart than a movie star.” While at Harvard, she also worked as a research assistant and she wrote two research papers that were published in scientific journals.
Portman also went on to take some graduate classes at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is very interested in studying and learning foreign languages, including French, Japanese, German and Arabic, as well as Hebrew, the language of her native country. Additionally, Natalie is interested in and has studied both ballet and modern dance at the American Theater Dance Workshop. Natalie certainly goes to show that beauty and brains can all come in one package and though you may be a successful actress, having an education to fall back on is always possible and beneficial.
