Katie Holmes struck an amazing deal with ex-husband Tom Cruise, ensuring her financial stability for years to come. In the papers, it was said that for every year the couple were married, Katie would receive $3 million up to five years of marriage and after 10 years they would split everything. Due to the couple having one child together, Katie was given $400,000 a year in child support, in addition to the massive $15 million divorce settlement she was reported to have received.
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
When the princess of pop married her back-up dancer in a secret ceremony, many people hoped that Britney was protecting her assets in case of a split. Prior to their nuptials, Britney and Kevin signed a 60-page document which stipulated that Kevin won only a million from her $65 million fortune. Britney was also forced to pay Kevin $25,000 a month in child support for each of the couples two children. Moreover, Kevin is forbidden from writing a tell-all book on their marriage.
Hugh Hefner and Crystal Hefner
After Crystal Hefner was a runaway bride just five days before their wedding, the second time around, Hugh was advised to protect his assets in case his new, young bride intended to win a portion of his fortune. In their prenup, Crystal is said to not receive a dime from the Playboy entrepreneur. This seemed like a smart move for Hefner as Crystal sold her first engagement ring for over $80,000 making every question her motives for the marriage.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones are a much loved couple in Hollywood and have been married for 16 years. In their prenup, Catherine was said to get a massive $2.8 million for every year she was married to Douglas and would get an extra $5 million bonus if she caught Douglas cheating. The fee is quite a large amount for the Hollywood veteran, it’s no wonder the couple have stayed together for so long!

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have been married for over 10 years but their prenup became void just a couple months after their marriage. Their prenup stated that Keith would receive $640,000 for each year of marriage but that clause would be invalid if he did drugs. Just four months into the marriage Keith entered rehab for drug abuse meaning that his entitlement to the money in case of divorce would be null and void. His troubles were said to have brought them closer together.

While most prenuptial agreements are written on a piece of paper, Steven Spielberg and his ex-wife, Amy Irving, wrote out their agreement on a cocktail napkin. Needless to say, when the two decided to divorce in 1989, their napkin was not legally binding when they held it up in court! Steven was leaving his wife to start dating Kate Capshaw meaning Amy was awarded half of Steven’s huge fortune, leaving her with a cool $100 million.

It was said that while hashing out their agreement, the two were not getting along with the signing process taking its toll on their loving relationship but now the couple have been married since 2012 and welcomed their first child, an adorable son named Silas.

In the event of a divorce, Beyonce would receive one million dollars for every year that they were married with an additional $5 million for each child she gives birth to! The clause seems exceptionally harsh and perhaps that was a reason why the couple never took that step together.

Khloe Kardashian showed that she is a smart businesswoman when she brokered her prenuptial agreement with Lamar Odom. Kardashian was entitled to keep the house, cars and her $1 million engagement ring including an extra $500,000 for every year she was married to Lamar. The two were in the middle of divorce proceedings when Lamar was found unconscious in a brothel in Las Vegas, leading Khloe to halt it. Khloe remains as the beneficiary on Lamar’s $10 million life insurance policy.
Donald Trump and Ivana Trump
In 1990, Donald and Ivana Trump signed a divorce pact after Ivana unsuccessfully challenged a prenuptial agreement, limiting any divorce settlement to $25 million. In the deal, Trump has to pay Ivana $14 million in cash, $350,000 in annual alimony and $300,000 per year to support their three children. However, in 1992, Trump sued Ivana for not honoring a gag clause in their divorce agreement, disclosing facts about Donald in a book. The two were able to work through their issues and remain friends.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are constantly plagued with split rumors but the couple seem to be more in love than ever. However, if they were to divorce, they have quite a unique prenup. Kim initially was given her engagement ring to keep but it was stolen in the infamous Paris heist, she is also allowed to keep any gifts Kanye has given her along with $1 million each year of marriage. Kanye had written in that Kris is not allowed to make business decisions for the couple.

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher’s marriage may have lasted six years but it didn’t stop Demi from trying to get a piece of Ashton’s earnings. In a bizarre move, Ice had written into their prenup that if they were to divorce, Coco must give him back the breast and buttock implants which he paid for. Although we’re not quite sure how they would go about doing this, it doesn’t sound too comfortable for Coco so let’s hope these two stay together!

In 2015, Chris Rock filed for divorce against his long-term partner Malaak but in an unlucky move, Chris’ prenup had just expired after 20 years. Chris had thought that he had taken every precaution in order to prepare for divorce. As expected, Compton-Rock capitalized upon this and decided to seek out a large sum of money from her ex-husband. Chris is estimated to be worth about $70 million but looks to be paying out big time for his mistake.
Mariah Carey and James Packer
It was reported that pop star Mariah Carey’s prenup demands for her marriage to billionaire businessman James Packer were unbelievably over the top. After Mariah was insulted to receive only $1 million for every year of marriage, she was then offered $6 million and given a credit card limit along with James deciding when she and her children would be allowed to use his private planes. The pop diva was not impressed and their engagement was called off.

The entrepreneur and hip-hop mogul had quite a dramatic prenuptial agreement with ex-wife, model and fashion designer, Kimora. He was made to pay child support for his two daughters, $20,000 a month until the girls turn 19. Kimora also had written in that when they visit their father, they must be accompanied by a nanny and security personnel. Along with this, Simmons promised to provide his two daughters with a $60,000 car which will be replaced every three years.

In 2008, Eddie Murphy and his then-girlfriend, headed off to a private island near Bora Bora to get married in a secret yet intimate ceremony. When the ceremony was later found to be invalid due to the couple not living near the location for at least 30 days, they intended to come back to the US and make it official. However, this was stopped when the couple couldn’t agree on the prenup as Edmonds requested half of Eddie’s fortune! The marriage was never made official.

Retired legendary basketball player Michael Jordan knew he had to protect his billion dollar assets when he got engaged to 33-year old Cuban model Yvette. Although they agreed that in case of a split, they’d leave the marriage with what they came in with, Jordan agreed to give her $1 million for every year of marriage and after ten years, she would receive a $5 million sum. Jordan clearly learned from his past mistakes, shedding out $168 million in his last divorce.

When Jessica Simpson married Eric Johnson, she was much wealthier than him due to her billion dollar brand. It was reported that as a wedding present, she would give Eric $500,000 upfront followed by $200,000 on each anniversary and if they make it to five years, he will get a $500,000 bonus and at 10 years he will receive $1 million. In addition, Jessica gave Eric his own high-limit Visa Black Card and an American Express Platinum card.
Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds
Rosie O’Donnell and her partner Michelle Rounds had such tough prenuptial agreement negotiations that they were married just hours after it was finalized in 2012. It was reported that negotiations went on for roughly eight months and Rosie had a clause written in whereby if Michelle was to cheat, she would get nothing. Despite this, it was said that Rosie was actually “extremely generous.” However, in 2015, the two filed for divorce and Michelle filed legal documents to invalidate the prenup.

Actress Gabriella Union and pro-basketball player Dwayne Wade have been open about their prenup, explaining that when you have your own money, taking each other’s doesn’t come into question. Gabriella also said how she works her finances in a different way to Dwayne, continuing, “The reality is, I’ve never seen Dwyane balance a check book, so I got to protect my stuff.” Gabriella pushed for the prenup and wanted people to realize she was not marrying him for money.

In a peace offering, Tiger reportedly offered her $200 million to stay with him, but she left and it was assumed he ended up giving her around $750 million to keep quiet about the inside details of their marriage.
