Ever since George Clooney and his bride, Amal Alamuddin were married at the end of September, the rumor mill has been running overtime with rumors about a “luxurious, well decorated and super-private” home the happy couple bought in Berkshire county over the summer.

Well, it is now known that the happy couple bought their own “island of love” on the river Thames for about $12 million. I actual always thought buying your own island would set you back a whole lot more, maybe there is still hope I can save up enough for my own island.

he couple’s new home is 8,948 sq. ft manor known as the Aberdash House. According to the Wall Street Journal article about the property, it was purchased by a banker named Omar Bayoumi in the late 90s, who was drawn to the property by “the romance and exclusivity of owning the largest residential island in the Thames,” as well as “the beauty of the house and grounds.”

Bayoumi added several creature comforts to the manor including gym, a “spa complex,” and an entertainment room outfitted with “invisible speakers and an iLight lighting system using John Cullen fittings.”

According to an article from Variety the manor has mahogany parquet floors on the inside and stone terraces on the grounds. There is also a private boathouse and a “circular brick-built structure for yoga.”

The other homes the Clooney’s own include a gated compound in Los Angeles, a historic mansion on Italy’s Lake Como and a beachside villa in Los Cabos, that is located next to Cindy Crawford’s home.

George Clooney and wife Amal Alamuddin were married on September 27, 2014 at Ca’ Farsetti. They were married by Clooney’s friend Walter Veltroni, the former mayor of Rome. Clooney has starred in several films and has received three Golden Globe Awards for his work as an actor and two Academy Awards, one for acting and the other for producing.

Amal Clooney is a London-based lawyer, activist and author. She is a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, specialising in international law, criminal law, human rights and extradition. Her clients include Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, in his fight against extradition. She has also represented the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko.
