Everyone makes New Year resolutions, but not everyone ends up keeping them, so we’ve found a way to make sure you stick to your health goals for 2017! The easiest and most useful health tips will help you not only meet your goals but surpass them and ensure that 2017 is the best year yet!
Sleep. Seems like a no brainer but hardly anyone gets enough. Sleep is proven to not only help with weight loss, and mood stabilizing, but also boosts your energy levels and creates an all around better functioning body! Set your electronic devices to sleep mode to ensure you aren’t disturbed by tweets and buzzers and aim for solid 7-8 hours nightly.
Mindfulness. From 5 minute meditative practices to gratitude projects taking time out to remember to assess your blessings will make you a happier and healthier person. Meditation apps like Headspace can help you make the time out of your day to focus and reflect.
Move More. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator to your office, dancing around your living room to de-stress, and even doing a few yoga moves midday will drastically and immediately improve your health. Using a fitness app has never been easier, most cell phones have some form built in that let you record and track progress and goals. Engage your co-workers in some friendly competition, or set company-wide fitness goals and reap the benefits together.
Green Tea. The temptation to pour that second or third cup of coffee to combat the mid-afternoon snooze fest can be hard to beat, B=but consider green tea instead! Green Tea is perhaps one of the healthiest beverages on the planet, loaded with antioxidants and nutrients; it will still give you the alertness you need without the negative impact you find in coffee.
Don’t Eat Kale. If you don’t like eating something, don’t force yourself to do it just because it’s “healthy.” A sustainable and efficient diet should be based on foods that you enjoy as well as that provide you with nutritional benefits. If you detest your food choices, chances are higher that you won’t keep to your diet.
Nobody is Perfect, Including You. Stop being a perfectionist. Being goal oriented is fantastic but remember to set realistic and achievable goals. You won’t turn into Kylie Jenner over night just because you cut out sodium from your diet! Using the SMART acronym is a good place to start monitoring your progress. Set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely goals to make 2017 the best year yet.
