You don’t come across many stories like these nowadays. Not only did Kinsey French, a special education teacher from Kentucky, get engaged in front of her whole class, she also invited each one of her students, all with Down syndrome, to the ceremony.
Kinsey wanted to make her students feel as if they would not just be attending the wedding, but would be a significant part of the ceremony, and therefore made all the girls flower girls, and the boys ring bearers. As Kinsey and her fiancee walked down the isle on June 3rd, the whole class from Christian Academy Rock Creek escorted the beautiful bride down the aisle.
“They were my first class and they’ve been my only class and so I knew I couldn’t have my special day without them being a part of it. They were like family to me,” Kinsey stated. Kinsey felt as if her big day wouldn’t be special unless her students were there to participate in the event.
She really took her teaching experience to its full potential. This is a great example for other teachers over the world. Just because class is over, doesn’t mean your work is necessarily done. As a teacher, you have the opportunity to make a huge impact on your students lives, and Kinsey is the perfect example of that.
Later in the event, they all had a fun party with their classmates. “It was so exciting, it was really special..just to have them be a part of the day and have them com with us and celebrate with us.” The students later mentioned that their favorite part of the wedding was all the dancing and the delicious food. The boys in the class even participated in the garter toss! You can just see the pure joy and happiness on the kids faces from the wedding.
The internet fell in love with Kinsey’s touching story and beautiful pictures from the big day.
